Career & Technical Education

Career & Technical Education (CTE)

Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides quality educational programs emphasizing technical skills, core academics, and postsecondary & hands-on learning opportunities. Our goal is to better prepare all students, including special populations, to meet the challenges of the workforce, economic growth, and emerging new occupations.

Offered throughout D49 at six high schools and four middle schools, sequenced CTE courses provide career exploration and preparation to all students without regard to disability, need for special education services (whether actual or perceived), race, creed, color, sex, pregnancy, sexual harassment, marital status, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, religion, ancestry, age, genetic information, veteran status, or protected activity in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups. See our D49 Nondiscrimination Statement, policies, and compliance officer contact information.

Career and Technical Education programs provide a variety of pathways to explore and prepare for future careers. Offerings span fields like Agriculture, Automotive Service, Web Design, Biomedical Technology, Business Management,  Culinary Arts, Engineering, Fashion Design, and Networking, giving students the chance to develop valuable technical skills and industry knowledge.  Entry-level courses are open to all students, allowing for early exploration. To progress to upper-level courses, successful completion of a specific sequenced course is typically required, ensuring students build a strong foundation before tackling more advanced concepts.
