Our common goal is to see D49 students flourish, and we believe creating positive relationships with parents is crucial to building strong foundations and launching students to success in our exceptional schools. The BOE has prioritized advocacy in their strategic objectives for the 24-25 school year and as Engage49, we are dedicated to building your capacity and advocacy opportunities in D49.

What happens when I submit a Safe2Tell Report?

1. You see a safety concern and submit a report to Safe2Tell via phone, safe2tell.org, or the app.

2. A person who analyses the reports for Safe2Tell may ask you follow-up questions to learn more.

3. Once the information is collected, it is sent to the team in the school district where the report is from.

4. You remain anonymous, and your information is not collected by Safe2Tell.

5. The local team that receives the report always includes school district employees and law enforcement and can also include mental health professionals.

6. That team will decide the response to a Safe2Tell report, whether it's about someone who needs mental health support or who may pose a threat to their school community.

7. Teams then tell Safe2Tell what happened. The most common results of a report include mental health counseling, parent notification, or check ins that are made to make sure the person is okay.

I Love You Guys Foundation: The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s programs for crisis response and post-crisis reunification are used in more than 50,000 schools, districts, departments, agencies, organizations and communities around the world. They are created through the research-based best practices of school administrators, psychologists, public space safety experts, families, and first responders. We’re a powerful conduit uniting this work.

Safe2Tell: Safe2Tell is an online platform that takes reports any time, any day of the year from students or other community members who are concerned about their safety or the safety of others.

Safety & Security in D49: Safety and Security preparedness is a top priority in District 49. School safety is the responsibility of everyone – students and parents, along with staff and community members.
