COVID-19 Safe Return Survey Results, November 1, 2020

  • Evans Families:

Thank you for participating in the COVID-19 Safe Return survey that went out last month. We are proud of the results and we will continue to enforce the protocols that have kept us safe so far this year:

    • Masks- Staff and students will continue to wear masks in the building.
    • Extra Sanitization- Students will keep their handwashing breaks throughout the day. Our extra custodians frequently sanitize all high touch areas throughout the building.
    • Cohorts- Classes will remain in cohort models to minimize exposure potential.

On a scale of 1 to 5, parents were asked to rate their level of agreement with the following statements. The average scores for each question were overwhelmingly positive, as you can see below. Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback, and if you'd like to discuss the survey further, please let me know.

    1. I am confident that my child’s school is handling the COVID-19 challenge to keep my child safe.

    2. I am confident that my child’s school is focused on the social emotional well-being of my child.

    3. I have the resources needed to help my child learn.

    4. I have access to my child’s teacher(s) when needed.

    5. I receive feedback from my child’s teacher(s) about my child's learning progress.

    6. I am confident that my child will not fall behind in school.

    7. I receive timely communication on changes that occur at my child’s school.

We look forward to continuing to keep our students safe and engaged at Evans during 2nd quarter!

Evans Updates

  • Hello Evans Families!

As you know, we will be starting the year with E-Learning. Your student's teacher will reach out to you this week with more information and we're here to help you all along the way. You can expect an invitation to our Virtual Open House, as well as a chance to sign up for your child's beginning of year assessments this week.

We have prepared a robust E-Learning experience for your student. Teachers will be in building every day to enhance their instruction with the collaboration of their teams, including interventionists, special education staff, and coaches. In addition to live teaching sessions, you and your student will have access to your teacher's daily office hours if you would like one-on-one assistance with content or navigation of the online platform.

We will also be inviting students in for small group instruction and interventions during E-Learning. After the beginning of year assessments, we'll coordinate with families to ensure that we have an appropriate limit of students in building at one time.

On September 8, we look forward to having our kindergartners, 1st and 2nd graders back in building! And on September 14, we'll welcome ALL students back at Evans! We can't wait to see you all soon!

As always, reach out if you have questions or concerns. :)
    Thank you,

    Marcia Case

  • Hello Evans Community!

We are back to school and preparing the best learning experience for your students. During this dynamic situation, we've been practicing flexibility and agility as we closely monitor the emerging guidance from the Colorado Department of Education, El Paso County Health Dept, and District 49.

For students who will be in the building in August, we've arranged for additional and thorough cleaning protocols within classrooms and shared spaces. We'll have an extra custodian on staff to help us with the new sanitation measures buildingwide. We'll also keep students in cohorts of about 25 to minimize contact among our population. Lunch and recess procedures have been modified to comply with the cohort recommendations.

We will also provide eLearning instruction for those families who prefer to keep their children home. We are building an online platform and curriculum that will provide consistency and ease of use for parents and guardians who are assisting their online learners and our instructors will be available daily for virtual conferencing and support.

If you haven't confirmed your plans yet, please take this survey so that we can continue to plan accordingly. If you need more information about your options, please call us at (719) 495-5299.

Check back often for new updates and COVID season-related information. We're looking forward to serving our Evans families this year!

    Marcia Case and Ryan Scott
