POWER Zone Updates
Start of School Fall 2022Dear POWER Zone families,The POWER Zone started a tradition several years ago for our elementary schools called Family Orientation Day. The district calendar indicates August 2 as the first day for all students. In the POWER Zone, at the elementary level, we use August 2 for Family Orientation Day. You will be invited to come in with your student to visit the classroom, meet the teacher, participate in a brief presentation, and unpack student supplies. Each school will establish appointments for this, so watch for more information on that in July as the start of the year draws near. Our families have shared with us, year after year, that starting school in this manner allows elementary students and parents to feel less overwhelmed, and it allows parents to learn valuable information regarding a variety of important topics. PZ elementary students have their first full day of school on August 3.The district calendar indicates August 1 as the first day for Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade-- but in the POWER Zone our Kindergartners follow the same schedule as our other elementary students. They attend Family Orientation on August 2 with a parent and have their first regular full day on August 3. POWER Zone 6th and 9th graders do begin on August 1, and all middle and high school students have their first full day on August 2.As always, please ask if you have any questions. We are here to support!
