    IVES Families and Students,

Thank you for embarking on this new e-learning  journey with us during this difficult season. We want you to know that although this adventure is new, we can assure you that you are not alone. We are here to support you.

As we continue to navigate e-learning, one area that remains constant is the high standards we have for student growth and development. Monday through Thursday, students will be engaging in morning meetings, learning blocks and Studio.  Daily morning meetings are intended to develop the student’s actor’s toolbox and create a classroom community. During learning blocks, the students will have direct instruction targeting standards and content with guided practice. To round out the learning block, students will have independent time to work on assigned learning tasks. If students are needing more guidance during the independent learning block they can stay on the Zoom meeting and participate in a guided practice session with either a teacher or paraprofessional for extra help. One of the areas that makes IVES unique are our studio blocks.  By attending a studio each day, students are able to develop their whole student profile.

Although your child will be highly engaged in learning with their teacher. There are some things you can do to help your child meet their potential. Make space for learning. Your children will achieve their best work in a quiet, comfortable, and dedicated space devoted to learning. Ideally, this will be a different space than where they normally play games or watch television.  Each child should have their own, quiet space to work. Set clear expectations. Parents might build time into their remote work day to assist with their students’ learning and schedule other activities they know their children will be able to do independently. Consider scheduling “office hours” when you’re available for school-related questions. Plan your work. Good planning can relieve stress for both children and parents. Check-in with your kids about their plans and help them develop a written schedule not only for the day, but for the week. Help them prioritize and learn to create goals, tasks, and deadlines, just like adults do when they go to work.

We look forward to seeing all of our IVES Flyers back in person in the future. Thank you in advance for partnering with us and allowing us to serve you and your children as they continue to learn and grow!
