Special Education Advisory Council Overview
One of the Big Rocks of School District 49's strategic plan is supporting every student by providing top quality education to every learner.
The D49 Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) supports and shapes the quality services for children with disabilities. In addition to performing critical work to support our students, the committee can increase involvement, strengthen communication and improve relationships among stakeholders while ensuring students with special needs receive the most appropriate education at D49. When district-wide collaboration improves, programming for students with and without disabilities is strengthened, setting the stage for improved student achievement.
The mission of the SEAC is to actively represent children/youth with disabilities and impact decisions made on their behalf to enhance the quality of educational services.
Parents Encouraging ParentsParents Encouraging Parents conferences are designed to promote family and school partnerships that are essential in supporting students with disabilities and their families in schools and the community. Parents Encouraging Parents brings parents and professionals together by sharing ideas, discussing concerns, celebrating successes and obtaining information related to parenting, educating and partnering to support student learning. School administrators and principals, consider adding a brief PEP notice and the link on your website and in your newsletter to help inform families and professionals in your community of this learning opportunity. More detailed information for the 2014-2015 conferences are provided at the Colorado Department of Education website.
