One Zone One Book 2025

The Wild Robot

Through the One Zone, One Book family literacy project, students across all grade levels will be reading and discussing the same book. Research shows that reading aloud materials beyond a child’s typical reading level enriches their language skills, and we believe reading chapter books with your older children continues to be valuable, even if they can read independently.

*The Wild Robot* by Peter Brown is a heartwarming story about a robot named Roz, who finds herself stranded on a remote, wild island after a shipwreck. Alone and out of place, Roz learns to survive by observing and adapting to the behaviors of the island’s animals. Over time, she gains the animals' trust, learns about friendship, and even becomes a mother figure to a young gosling she adopts. Through her journey, Roz discovers her purpose and identity, blending themes of empathy, resilience, and the intersection between nature and technology. It’s an adventure filled with life lessons for readers of all ages.
