Hello IVES community!  I am super excited to be a part of the IVES family again for the second year, as we continue to grow into our vision as an arts integrated school.  I’ve integrated the arts into core curriculum for over 18 years, and have seen students blossom into confident, creative, well-rounded learners. My educational background has taken me to many places. I have traveled to 32 countries studying the arts of people around the world, and my MA in Art History is from the University of Colorado in Boulder. I grew up in Texas, where I received a BFA in Art Education and Studio Art, and this is where I discovered my passion for teaching.

One of the true blessings on my journey as an educator has been building relationships with students and watching them reach their own creative potential. I draw inspiration from them every single day! To ensure that each student experiences success through the arts, I introduce them to a wide-range of art media. In my studio art classes, students explore painting, drawing, pottery, printmaking, sculpture, paper mache, puppetry, weaving, mask-making, art from recycled/repurposed materials. and cultural art.  Each lesson is meaningfully connected to classroom CKLA units and standards in math, science, literacy, and social studies. This multidisciplinary approach to teaching is effective for all student learning styles.

I feel so blessed to be part of our incredible IVES teaching staff again this year. As a staff, we have risen to the challenges of teaching in a variety of formats, however, I am most excited about getting to open up our phenomenal IVES Art Studio again for in-person learning. I look forward to getting to know each of your students and embarking upon this inspirational art adventure together!
