A little about me

This will be  my sixth year teaching and my third year at Vista Ridge.  I started my teaching career at the  elementary school level and found that I could better engage older students with content at a deeper level, so I transitioned to teaching middle school for two years.  The middle school that I taught at was a gifted and talented charter school that was a project based learning campus.

Before teaching I worked in the infectious disease research field, where I specialized in the immune response of tuberculosis. During my time in the research field I studied how the bacteria responds to a variety of novel and market drugs as well as what immune response is elicited with hyper-virulent strains.

When I am not teaching, I am exploring the outdoors.  I love finding new areas to hike with my dogs, visiting National Parks, lake kayaking, and discovering areas rich in science and history.  I can also be found attending classes, especially science based, where I can learn new things to engage students at a deeper level.
