Miss Tabitha Najar
I am thrilled to start my 14th year of teaching and my 2nd year at Skyview Middle School and District 49.
My higher education journey began at CU Denver where I earned my BS in biology. My plan to become a nurse was derailed when we had to dissect a cadaver my senior year. After graduation I fell into a paraprofessional position at Timberview Middle School. I worked with a 6th grade autistic boy. It was this experience that sparked my love for becoming an educator.
I embarked on my teaching journey by moving to Chicago and attending National Louis University. After 2 years, I earned my MA in secondary education. I decided to merge my love of science and education. I did my student teaching at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in inner-city Chicago. I taught 7th grade science and was then hired on to stay as a library specialist for the remainder of the school year. I then started my first year of science teaching at Chicago Math and Science Academy in Rogers Park Chicago. I taught 6th and 8th grade science to a wonderful group of students before deciding it was time to come “home”.
I taught 7-10th grade science at a specialty school in Harrison School District for a year before moving to Monument Academy to teach 8th grade science. While at Monument Academy I also taught 6th-8th grade computer science. Though Colorado is home, I have never been a fan of cold weather. It was time for a new adventure.
I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I taught 7th grade science at Sonoran Trails Middle School for a year and then moved to a larger district. I then taught 7th grade science at Explorer Middle School for the next 7 years. Though my time at Explorer was amazing, the treatment of teachers and the climate of education in Arizona was bad enough to call me back “home”.
I taught 6th grade science at Galileo School of Math and Science before making the best move in my career to district 49 and Skyview Middle School. I have finally found my “home” where I plan to share my passion for science with my students for years to come. I truly love what I do; I am what I do!
When I am not teaching I love to spend time with my family. My mom and I love to create crafts together. I have 2 cats, Bella and Bijou, who are my babies. I love to watch movies and listen to music. I am an avid sports fan and will die supporting my Denver Broncos. I live for football season. And chocolate. I am a lover of all things pink and Toy Story is my all-time favorite movie.
