Welcome to English Language Arts for ALLIES!

 

I started my first official teaching position in 1997, 26 years ago, in California, as a Special Education Teacher.  During my time in California, I taught in Special Education, and then transitioned to teaching general education.  My husband, daughter, and I moved from California to Colorado (my husband is native to Colorado) in 2005.  We live east of Colorado Springs, where we enjoy living the country life with our chickens, dogs, cats, and horses. 

 

I have been teaching for Falcon D49 since 2005, where I've taught at Evans International, Springs Ranch, Odyssey Elementary, and now at ALLIES.  I had the privilege of opening ALLIES in 2017. However, I have worked with students with characteristics of Dyslexia since 2014, when the LEx program (Take Flight Therapy Intervention) began at Odyssey Elementary.  I enjoy working with children and discovering their individual personalities, strengths and needs in order to help them grow in their education.  I truly enjoy teaching and have a passion for working with students.

 

I believe all students are capable of learning.  However, each student is unique, and learns differently and in various ways.  My goal as a teacher is for each student to feel valued and safe in order to learn in my class, and for students to find what makes learning work for them individually.  I am here to support students in their learning in the best way possible, so that each student feels successful. Lastly, I enjoy supporting students in finding their growth mindset so they can persevere in any challenge that comes their way.
