Mrs. Michelle Kelley-Davies

This is my third year with the special education team at Springs Ranch Elementary. My name is Michelle Kelley-Davies. I am married with two children, ages 9 and 12. I grew up north-east of Denver and moved to Wyoming when I got married. I lived there for 10 years before we moved to Kansas City. The mountains were continually calling us, so we returned to Colorado in 2013. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy doing anything with my kids, camping, hiking and traveling.

The 2018-19 school year will be my 19 th year in special education. I earned my BA in History and MA in Special Education: Severe Cognitive Needs at the University of Northern Colorado, and my EdS in Higher Education and Adult Learning at Walden University. I have also been trained in TEACCH structure and participated in research projects at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hills. I am a member of the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET). During my career, I have taught students in all areas of special education ( resource to significant behavior to severe and profound needs to transition) at all grade levels, K-21. I have served as a mentor teacher at the district level for general education and special education teachers. I had the pleasure to work in a charter school for a time in Kansas City, MO. While there, I had the opportunity to teach in a resource classroom while functioning as the special education administrator. This time was truly a blessing in learning the art of scheduling and balance.

I have been blessed with the variety of students that I have come in contact with through my career. These students have all confirmed my belief that all individuals can learn; sometimes one has to think outside the box to facilitate this learning, but it can and does happen for all. My passion for learning is fueled by the light that shines in a student’s eyes when progress is made, or something new is achieved. I am eager to bring my passion, creativity, and experience to the special education team and your student’s educational career at Springs Ranch Elementary every day.
