Hello, 7th graders!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! This will be my sixth year at Horizon Middle School. Time flies when you're having fun! I look forward to working with both parents and students this year, building lasting relationships and showing our kids that math is FUN! I truly believe that anyone can learn and use mathematical practices effectively.
My mantra that I use throughout life, and what I teach students, is:
"I can do difficult things!"
Learning takes patience and perseverance, whether it is to set a personal record at the gym, or to understand how to simplify mathematical expressions, it requires grit and determination.
I'm a firm believer in having a growth mindset. I practice this in my personal and professional life as well as teach students these practices and what it looks like for them in middle school.
Outside of school, you will find me reading a book, crushing weights at the gym, trying a new recipe, or exploring beautiful Colorado with my husband and our dog Watson.
I look forward to an amazing year full of student growth and success!
"Teaching mathematics is essential for all students as they grow to understand their world and become productive citizens. Mathematical models explain, celebrate, and analyze the world around us; from economic models on the stock market to musical models of symphonies, our world is mathematics. All Colorado students must understand mathematics and its relevance in their lives."
