Good Things

  • "Good Things" is an opportunity to see those magic personal moments students have in our classrooms that turn into life-long memories. These are the moments that make a difference. It's more than certificates or ribbons, it's the experiences, the moments of celebration, that help shape the lives of our young learners.

On September 13, 2019 our Ridgeview Huskies and staff walked, skipped, danced, and ran our way around to accumulate those laps.  The weather was beautiful, sunny with a light breeze.  Also, we had lots of supportive family and friends cheering us on.  Here are a few pictures to capture the day!

    Health Fair Day

Even though the weather did not cooperate for Field Day, we still held our Health Fair on Monday, May 20th.  All of our Huskies rotated through great sessions and even had the opportunity to participate in a few.  Ridgeview hosted six different sessions for our Huskies.  A couple of CSPD's canine officers and their partners were here to show and demonstrate some of their training, talk about how they use the dogs, and talk about being a police officer here in Colorado Springs.  One of our local dental groups stopped in for a dental hygiene presentation.  They showed examples using candy and how much sugar was in each kind.  They students were surprised.  A nutritionist from Penrose talked about the importance of proper nutrition and how it helps the body grow and function properly.  Our own safety officer, Dave Glenn, talked to students about safety here at school and at home.  Each of our Huskies had a great time  participating in Yoga & Zumba.  We were thrilled with our community support and to see our Huskies having a great time.  We are already planning our next Health Fair for the next school year.

Ridgeview was a top donating school for the 2017 Harvest of Love food drive.  So, we were invited to participate in Care & Share's Can-struction event this year.  A group of students represented our school at the event, where they built creative structures out of canned and boxed food items.  Two of our students, along with a pair of high schoolers, teamed up to build the winning structure.  Check out their winning "Love Launcher" rocket ship as featured on KKTV's live coverage of the event.  The prize won an engraved trophy and $150 credit toward our 2018 food drive (that's 1500 pounds!).  Thank you to our wonderful students Judsen Covak, Corinne Smith, and Georgie Smith for representing us at this awesome event!

    Good Things -

Students are having a ball in yoga during PE class at Ridgeview Elementary School.  They are challenging their bodies and minds as they control their breathing while they hold their poses.  As they meditate, they are mindful as they release stress.  What a great way to focus and strengthen their core.  We are so proud of our students for trying this new exercise. Way to go Huskies!  Thank you, Ms. Dion for giving our students this wonderful opportunity.

  • Hurricane Harvey Motivates Ridgeview Families

    Orangefield Elementary

Good things are happening at Ridgeview Elementary School. RVES Student Council, coordinated by Mrs. Chaffin, started “Round-Up” for change for Orangefield Elementary School in Orange, Texas. Each classroom had a cowboy boot where students could put their change in. The money that was raised will help families that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. It is wonderful that we can reach out to people that need help. Way to go, RVES Student Council, students, staff, and families.  We raised $855 in just a week!
