Dr. Lauren Murphy

Lauren Murphy is excited to return to Falcon High School, where she started her teaching career in 2005. She taught Special Education at FHS for eight years, leading the Special Education department for seven of those years. Seeking a new challenge, Lauren moved to Singapore to teach Learning Support at Singapore American School for five years. This past year, she took a professional gap year to travel, spend time with family, and repatriate to the US.

Lauren earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education at Winona State University and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs. In May 2018, Lauren graduated from the University of Southern California with her Doctor of Education degree in Leadership with a concentration in Organizational Change. Her doctoral research was focused on restorative practices and implementation in secondary schools.

Lauren brings experience with personalized learning, advisory, high impact instructional strategies, senior/capstone projects, student leadership, and strengths-based character development to the Falcon community. Lauren whole-heartedly believes in developing 21st-century global citizens and empowering students to take ownership over their own educational journey by building student agency and providing individualized pathways. She is enthusiastic about the Falcon Zone vision to empower learners through elevated instruction, enhanced opportunities, and engaging environments.

A Midwestern girl at heart, Lauren enjoys living in Colorado for the fresh mountain air and a plethora of outdoor experiences. She spends her time connecting with friends, traveling, staying up to date on educational research, and working with her hands by remodeling, building, or crafting. She also serves the community as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and youth leader.

Lauren is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Falcon community. Go Falcons!
