Mr. Pedro Almeida
Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Pedro Almeida was commissioned as an Army officer in 1988. Key positions in his career include Commander of operational aviation units from platoon through brigade; Chief of Staff of a Two Star Command; Aide-de-Camp to the Army Chief of Staff; Senior Army Fellow to Georgetown University; and Foreign Area Officer in Niger, West Africa.
After retirement, he has focused on providing service to the educational community throughout Colorado Springs. He volunteered as President and Vice President of the Mountain Song Community School Board of Directors between 2016 and 2019; served as a public school math and science substitute teacher; and taught political science at Pikes Peak Community College.
As Chief Operations Officer for School District 49, Mr. Almeida is responsible for ensuring that our district provides efficient and effective support to our schools and educational staff in the areas of safety and security, transportation, nutrition services, facilities construction, facilities maintenance, and information technology.
Mr. Almeida grew up in coastal Massachusetts and has three wonderful children over the age of 11. He is trained as a French linguist, graduated from the Army’s Command and General Staff College, and holds a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from Columbia University.
