My name is Leanne McKinney and it is an honor to be a part of the Falcon Home School Enrichment Program. Here at FHEP, we focus on academic engaging lessons and building positive relationships. Each week students will engage in a social studies, science and an art lesson. They will also enjoy read a louds and team building games.

In the Fall of 2019, we are studying renewable energies in Science . We will take a field trip to the Catamount Institute, in Colorado Springs https://www.catamountinstitute.org/education/field-trips/#tab-6. We will also have two in house field trips from the Colorado Springs Utilities Company. One presentation will be about natural gas and one on water: where it comes from, how do we use it and where it goes after. For Social Studies, we will be studying the Civil War. The first semester will focus on the causes of the Civil War.

In the Spring, we will continue our study of the Civil War. In Science, we will study architecture. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the basic physical science of large structures. They will actively participate in numerous hands on inquiry lessons around the topics of bridges, domes, skyscrapers, dams and tunnels.
