Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Paula Hinson
My name is Paula Hinson. I am the Gifted and Talented Facilitator for Woodmen Hills Elementary. I teach identified gifted students in grades K-5. The GT program at WHES is an integrated curriculum that applies hands-on problem solving, 21st-century skills, collaboration, teamwork, as well as higher level math, science, writing, reading, technology and engineering skills. The students are involved in daily problem solving and experiential activities. Inquiry and problem-solving activities lead to a deeper level of learning and a higher level of retention of new concepts.
This is my 5th year in the Falcon Zone and my 33rd year of teaching! I am originally from Texas and graduated with my teaching degree from Texas A&M University. Go Aggies! I earned my Master's in Educational Supervision from Lamar University in Texas.
I love animals. In the past, I worked in an animal shelter. I had to quit because I adopted too many dogs! I have three dogs and they keep me very busy. I have two children, Blake and Holly who are no longer at home. I enjoy visiting with them often.
I am extremely excited to start the 2016 -2017 school year.
