School Year Calendars

District 49's 2016-2017 calendar applies to non-charter schools only. District 49 charter schools maintain their own school year calendar.

The new district calendar approved by the Board of Education Feb. 11, aligns professional development days across the zones. For families that have students at different schools, especially schools in different zones, this makes it much easier to keep everything straight. The calendar continues to be family friendly for learners and staff, maintaining the two week fall and spring breaks, full week of school closures for thanks giving, and two weeks plus for Christmas break.

"The divergence of zone calendars has been a point of confusion and operational inefficiency," said Peter Hilts, chief education officer. "The Board of Education voted to re-align calendars across District 49 to meet our community's expectations."
