ENSURE HIGH LEVELS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Seventeen D49 teachers received accolades from principals, and recommendations from students and parents to prompt selection as their school’s Teacher of the Year.
Nearly 400 fourth and fifth-graders from 10 schools across D49 participated at the all-district track meet May 17 at Falcon High School. Students were gathered together to practice physical education skills learned throughout the year and to experience competition.
Sandi Esparsen, Falcon Education Foundation secretary, receives a plaque of appreciation from District 49 Board of Education President Nov. 9 after awarding just under $31,000 to educators across District 49 for innovative and unique learning opportunities.
Students, staff and family members of all ages hit the trail to wellness at the first D4.9K Run/Walk, Sat., Nov. 4 at Stetson Elementary School. The event sold out with 499 participants registered for the new race that took runners and walkers down the Sand Creek Trail behind the school.
Students from Stetson Elementary School participated in the Harvest of Love kickoff and “canstruction” event Nov. 1 at the Care and Share Food Bank Distribution Center. Harvest of Love is Care and Share’s biggest food drive of the year that draws support from schools across the Pikes Peak Region.
Their determination was challenged. Life lessons were learned. Participating in the Breckenridge Spartan Race Aug. 26 was a valuable experience for several Stetson Elementary staff members.

To welcome a new year, and students back to campus, School District 49 is launching a mobile app for smartphone users. Those who download the app will find a wealth of information at their fingertips. D49 families will receive important notifications as well as having the option of logging into the app to get up to the minute information about their students, including grades, attendance and account balances.
