  • SES Students Set For Summer Reading Success

    Hundreds of students, parents, teachers and community members supported literacy efforts at Stetson Elementary School May 19. The end of year event focused on celebrating student achievement and providing parents with resources for continued literacy efforts during summer break.

  • Science Experiments Engage Preschool Students and Families

    “Families created rain clouds, rainbows and weather sensory bottles together,” said Avelyn Green, early childhood dean, describing family engagement night activities April 18. “As part of our spectacular summer science theme, they also went on a dinosaur dig, made volcanoes and watched colors fizz.”

  • Building Bricks Inspire Student Creativity, Hands-on Learning

    Stetson Elementary School 21st century skills teacher Laurie Hildebrand has been providing maker spaces and other hands-on learning opportunities for her students as part of the school's technology curriculum. "Hands-on activities are very valuable. Our kids crave it and there is something organic about it."

  • BOE Honors Elementary School Achievements

    Natalia Roach, 8, a second-grader at Odyssey Elementary School, is honored during “Fantastic 49” recognition Feb. 9, ahead of a Board of Education meeting in District 49. BOE directors honored students from Odyssey Elementary School, Stetson Elementary School, Remington Elementary School, Springs Ranch Elementary School and Falcon Elementary School of Technology.

  • Stetson 2016-2017 Success Story

    • Boosterthon Week which involved daily active pep rallies wrapped up with a school wide Fun Run fundraiser.

    • Stetson earned another Healthy School Award.

    • Walking Club is still going strong for the fifth year in a row.

    • Gardening club is in its fifth year and has become over grown. We now have two separate grade levels meeting. Students learned how to can applesauce and green beans.

    • Jump Rope for Heart raised $6,850 and saved 137 lives

    • A nutritionist presented to the staff the benefits of healthy eating, cooking, and exercising

    • Staff increased Go Noodle and active breaks within the classroom.

    • Workout Wednesday was initiated and has taken off with a bang.

    • 60 Fuel Up to Play 60 students volunteered at Care and Share. Two students have been invited to the Fuel Up to Play 60 Summit held in Minneapolis.

    • Olympic and professional athletes have spoken to students.

  • Summer Meals Available At No Cost To Children

    Beginning Monday, June 5, free meals are available at Evans International Elementary School. The breakfast and lunch services are part of the USDA summer food service program. Breakfast and lunch are provided to all children in District 49, ages 1-18, for free.

  • School Meal Accounts Must Have Funds in May

    Starting May 1, student accounts must be funded to purchase meals. No students will be allowed to charge additional debt to their meal account. While District 49 often affords flexibility for young children in its elementary schools, each school year must end with all accounts current.
