    Their determination was challenged. Life lessons were learned. Participating in the Breckenridge Spartan Race Aug. 26 was a valuable experience for several Stetson Elementary staff members.

  • "Great Year" Underway at Stetson Elementary School

    Faith Sheets, 6, first-grader, stomped toward the front door of Stetson Elementary School ahead of her mom, Katie, and newborn sister, Elizabeth, Aug 2. “I’m excited because my baby sister won’t be here,” said Faith as her Mom smiled.

    Heather Reading, kindergarten teacher, is recognized as Remington Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year during ‘Fantastic 49’ ahead of a monthly Board of Education meeting June 8 in District 49.

  • Busy Construction Season Blasts Off with Wall-Breaking Ceremony

    The walls at Sand Creek High School started tumbling down on June 6 when the community came together for a groundbreaking, or rather “wall breaking,” ceremony at the school. Administrators, students, and board members took turns knocking down walls to make way for a variety of school improvements and additions. The event marked the official kick-off for $83.5 million of projects across District 49 made possible by ballot issue 3B. Last November, voters overwhelmingly approved 3B by a 2 to 1 margin.

  • SES Students Set For Summer Reading Success

    Hundreds of students, parents, teachers and community members supported literacy efforts at Stetson Elementary School May 19. The end of year event focused on celebrating student achievement and providing parents with resources for continued literacy efforts during summer break.

  • Science Experiments Engage Preschool Students and Families

    “Families created rain clouds, rainbows and weather sensory bottles together,” said Avelyn Green, early childhood dean, describing family engagement night activities April 18. “As part of our spectacular summer science theme, they also went on a dinosaur dig, made volcanoes and watched colors fizz.”

  • Stetson 2016-2017 Success Story

    • Boosterthon Week which involved daily active pep rallies wrapped up with a school wide Fun Run fundraiser.

    • Stetson earned another Healthy School Award.

    • Walking Club is still going strong for the fifth year in a row.

    • Gardening club is in its fifth year and has become over grown. We now have two separate grade levels meeting. Students learned how to can applesauce and green beans.

    • Jump Rope for Heart raised $6,850 and saved 137 lives

    • A nutritionist presented to the staff the benefits of healthy eating, cooking, and exercising

    • Staff increased Go Noodle and active breaks within the classroom.

    • Workout Wednesday was initiated and has taken off with a bang.

    • 60 Fuel Up to Play 60 students volunteered at Care and Share. Two students have been invited to the Fuel Up to Play 60 Summit held in Minneapolis.

    • Olympic and professional athletes have spoken to students.

    District 49 Board of Education directors named Pedro Almeida chief operations officer by a unanimous 5-0 vote at a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 27.

  • Annual Requirement: AHERA Asbestos Notification

    District 49 is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our children and staff. We completed multiple projects this summer; where we hired a licensed asbestos removal contractor to remove some of the asbestos containing material from five of six schools. As we complete more projects in the future, we will continue to abate it until all of it has been removed. If you have any questions, please contact Tara Carey at 719.494.8934.
