Master of Education- Curriculum & Instruction CLDE Endorsement (Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education)

Mrs. Patsy Dowell

Hello students and families! My name is Mrs. Dowell and I am Stetson's CLDE teacher. I have been teaching K-5th grade since 2010 and came to Stetson Elementary in 2014. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, then my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2020, I received my endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) at UCCS. I was born in Texas and then lived in Illinois for most of my younger life. We are a military family who decided to make Colorado our home. We have three children, one granddaughter, and one handsome dog! I am fluent in Spanish and love learning about the beautiful cultures around us!

  • About CLDE

The goal of this program is to help students develop and strengthen their English skills in order to be successful in the mainstream classroom. Ultimately, students will be able to effectively listen, speak, read, and write fluently in English. Some of our goals are to establish a strong conversational level of English and expand the students' knowledge of content-specific vocabulary.

    My Philosophy

I love what I do and my strong desire is to provide all students with an excellent education to make sure they are always learning and growing to the best of their ability. I believe in every child's potential and I expect all of my students to be successful when given the right support and encouragement. I strive to instill in them the desire to learn and persevere even when learning is difficult. To ensure success in reaching their full potential, I believe that we should work together. This collaboration allows us to learn from each other and offer the best education possible for our students. I look forward to another great year!
