TO ACHIEVE, INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE EACH CHILD
“All of our grade levels and teams have selected activities that are placed throughout the building,” says Theresa Ritz, principal. “Many of the activities combine art and math or inquiry and science.” Ritz says inviting the community to the school for evening events promotes a healthy and collaborative culture that pays dividends for student learning. “Seeing them with their families makes a big difference,” says Ritz. “When our families come in we connect in a personal way, especially for a fun event. To see families interacting with our teachers in a fun way is motivating. It’s a big deal.”
The work of a teacher is full of passion and commitment. It requires initiative from process improvement to individualized attention. We celebrate our educators for the important role they have. We salute them for the valuable service they provide to students and the community.
“Families created rain clouds, rainbows and weather sensory bottles together,” said Avelyn Green, early childhood dean, describing family engagement night activities April 18. “As part of our spectacular summer science theme, they also went on a dinosaur dig, made volcanoes and watched colors fizz.”
"They shop for their brothers and sisters," said RJ Berry, bus driver, "not even knowing they have anything waiting for them."

Beginning Monday, June 5, free meals are available at Evans International Elementary School. The breakfast and lunch services are part of the USDA summer food service program. Breakfast and lunch are provided to all children in District 49, ages 1-18, for free.
Starting May 1, student accounts must be funded to purchase meals. No students will be allowed to charge additional debt to their meal account. While District 49 often affords flexibility for young children in its elementary schools, each school year must end with all accounts current.
