“Education can be viewed as a tapestry that is worked steadily for years, in unison, by home and school. A tapestry that combines the skills, support, patience and guidance of those who have shared their talents along the way.  When completed, step back and look closely, you have a masterpiece that was woven by many hands – small pieces at a time.”

The final masterpiece may take the form of a student who experiences a personal accomplishment, an educator who touches the hearts of students who have shown years of frustration, or a school celebrating their community of learners.  Horizon Middle School is my personal tapestry!

District 49 entered my life as I began 2nd grade.  Many loose threads lay ahead of me with only dreams of what my final tapestry would become.  Through the years, I was encouraged and guided to take advantage of opportunities that would allow me to arrive at this point.

This will be my ninth year as an assistant principal for Horizon and fifteenth year in education in District 49.  Many students and community members will know me from the years that I spent at Horizon as a science educator.

I first joined Falcon School District after receiving my Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from Northern State University.  While teaching science at Horizon Middle School and Patriot Learning Center, I earned my Master of Science in Space Studies and a year later, began my MS in Educational Leadership.

As an educational leader at HMS, my passion is for every student to understand their inner strength as they learn to advocate for their personal and educational needs.  Horizon students must be prepared to enter their high school years with the skills and knowledge that will allow them to become successful and contributing citizens of our community and world.  Our Horizon educational team will work alongside your students to encourage and celebrate their accomplishments, highlight what makes them unique in a diverse world, and prepare them for a successful high school experience.

As a parent and/or guardian of a Horizon Middle School student, your support and encouragement is highly valuable to making your child’s middle school years a success!  Let us work together in encouraging our students to take advantage and become involved in all the great opportunities Horizon has to offer!

I look forward to the 2022-2023 school year and meeting each and every Panther and their parent/guardian AND seeing their faces as they roam the halls throughout the year!

Mrs. Jenny Breeding

Hello Horizon Middle School Community! I am excited about this year and all of the exciting things that are happening at Horizon.

I am the proud mom of two middle schoolers myself! John (14) and Jack (13) are my sons and Mark is my husband. As a family, we enjoy camping, enjoying the mountains, and watching our local sports teams (Go Broncos)! Personally, I love to stay active and spend time with friends and family...it is my favorite way to unwind when I'm not at work.

This is my third year at Horizon! I started my educational career 21 years ago, right down the road at Evans International Elementary School. I taught 4th grade, served as the IB Coordinator, and an Assistant Principal before becoming a principal in D11 for four years. I am excited to be back in the school community where I started my teaching career and look forward to learning from many of the people who I have worked with in D49 since 2002.

I look forward to a great year of growing as a school community, taking risks, and learning along the way.

Please stop by to introduce yourself!
