Good morning Meridian Ranch Elementary School family,

District 49's safety and security team selected MRES for a lockdown drill on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

This drill started at approximately 9:00 a.m. as part of ongoing efforts to continuously strengthen our safety procedures. Drills like this help your school maintain a safe atmosphere and remain prepared in case of an emergency. In the event of an actual emergency, you would be notified via a phone message, text, and/or email.

Please take this opportunity to review and update the emergency contact information you have registered in parent portal.

Please contact Dave Watson, District 49 safety and security director, with any questions.

    Sincerely,

Meridian Ranch Parking Lot and Drop-Off Zones

If you drop your child off in the morning, please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the Kiss-n-Go lane.  The Kiss-n-Go lane in front of the building is for dropping off or picking up students only. For safety reasons, please do not drop off or pick up your child in the outer lane in front of the school.

Because of our Preschool Drop Off/Pick-Up we ask that non-Preschool parents please stay behind the orange cones until 8:20 in the A.M and 3:25 in the P.M.

To enter Kiss-n-Go lanes 1 and 2 turn north onto Mount Princeton Dr., to Mount Evans Dr., to Mount Harvard Dr., to Rainbow Bridge.  Form a line along the curb and wait until entering the parking lot to pick up your student(s). This prevents cars from trying to jump out of line into oncoming traffic and limits traffic in the pull through lanes, which improves safety.  Once you drop off your family turn left only out of the parking lot onto Rainbow Bridge. For the new Kiss-n-Go 3 you may enter Bulldog Blvd. (gravel lot) by making a left only into the lot and dropping your child off curbside.  You may only turn right when exiting Bulldog Blvd. If your student needs extra help or assistance getting in and/or out of the vehicle, please park in the parking lot (Bulldog Boulevard) and assist your student into the building. There are many cars utilizing Bulldog Boulevard and for safety reasons, please walk your child to and from the lot to the sidewalk or school entrance. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe at all times!

***NO LEFT turn into the main parking lot between the hours of 8:15-8:30 AM and 3:30-3:55 PM!!  Exit Kiss-N-Go by making a left onto Rainbow Bridge Dr.

    PTA Holiday Store

The store will be in Room 12 and will be open Monday- Thursday 8:15 am- 9:30 am and 2:30 pm-4 pm.  Please remind students that is is CASH & CHECK Only, no cards. If a student wants to shop after school has started, they should check in with their classroom teacher and then get a pass to go to the Holiday Store - this is the same for the end of the school day.  Parents must accompany students to the store after school has been released.

PTA still needs volunteers to sign up

    Cooler Winter Weather & Recess

As you are aware, Colorado weather conditions can change dramatically throughout the day. Recess is held outside unless the temperature (with wind chill) drops below 17 degrees. Coats, gloves, hats, scarves, long pants, layers, closed toed shoes are all highly encouraged during the winter months.

    Delay/Closure Information

In the case of a 2-hour delay or school closure, the district works to make timely decisions with student and staff safety as a priority. You can find out about delays or closures through our district website, social media, local tv stations, and email notifications. If the weather is questionable, we would encourage you to check more than one of these resources to double check school status for the day.

When we have a 2-hour delay:

    • Doors open for kindergarten through fifth grade students at 10:15am

    • School starts at 10:30am

    • Lunch times remain the same

    • AM preschool is canceled
