District 49 often takes photos and videos and invites members of the media into its schools to tell the story of our mission to prepare every child for success. We appreciate your cooperation and consent in allowing us to capture imagery of your student for our use in various mediums. This includes, but not limited to, external media outlets such as television and newspaper, as well as internal media producers who update the district’s website, participatory media platforms, advertisements, promotional materials and other online and offline publications. -

Apreciamos su colaboración y consentimiento al permitir que capturemos imágenes de sus niños para nuestro uso en varios medios. Grant Propels Learning at PLC
Paul Austin, science educator at Patriot Learning Center, will use a $4200 Teachers and Technology grant from CenturyLink to purchase a 3D printer. Austin and his students will use the 3D printer to create different propellers in a boat drag racing unit. "Without this grant, there's no way we could do the tinkering phase of the project," said Austin. "It isn't cost effective and there's no way we'd be able to wait for a manufacturer to do that process for us."

49 Pathways: Concurrent Enrollment
Increasing numbers of District 49 students are taking college courses while in high school. Science teachers from District 49 high schools and Pikes Peak Community College department chairs and science professors met March 13 to discuss how both organizations can best serve this group of students.

‘Papa Clark’ Returns With Stories of Civil Rights Struggle, Forgiveness
James Clark, 65, of Colorado Springs, explains the civil rights movement for middle schoolers Jan. 29 at Patriot Learning Center in District 49. For six years, Clark has visited the alternative learning school in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday and National African American History Month.

Santa’s Toy Express: How a Colorado Community Rushes in Joy
A child speaks with Santa Claus, played by retired firefighter Jim DeGeorge, after shopping for his family Dec. 6 during Santa’s Toy Express at the transportation department in District 49. Fifty-one students, most 4-8 years old, received a call this year from the “elves” of Santa’s Toy Express.

Food Not The Only Thing Served at PLC's Annual Senior Citizen Feast
"These kids have aspirations, they have paths and they know where the paths lead. It's exciting," said Jerry Simpson of Black Forest at Patriot Learning Center's seventh annual Senior Citizens Feast.
