Oh Wow! Where do I begin? I'll break it down and only give you the highlights. 

I am a Native to Colorado Springs. I grew up on the Westside of town near Garden of the Gods. I am the only child of two teachers. My late mother, my best friend, was a library technology educator and my father was a nationally recognized band director. Mr. Downey has been volunteering in my classroom the last five years. He is a vital part of the superhero culture here at MRES. He has a way of knowing just how to connect with fifth graders! 

In June 2012, I was blessed to marry the love of my life, Jeremy. Our life revolves around our 11 year old mutt Hooba and our 2 year old Kittie Dexter. We are very proud of our little family! I try to stay active by hiking, playing soccer, hitting golf balls and pretty much anything which involves fun! I love to skate, play rollerderby, craft, play games and read. My favorite genres are memoirs, fantasy and mystery. 

Before I became a teacher, I attended The University of Colorado Springs where I earned my Bachelors degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences and my Teaching certificate through the Teacher Education Program. I immediately began teaching in Colorado Springs School District 11. Five years into my teaching career, I earned my Masters Degree in Inquiry Based Teaching. My passion is science education!  I believe we do our best work when we make our own discoveries through persistent effort and deliberate observation. 

This will be my fourteenth  year in teaching and my fourth year at Meridian Ranch International School!
