Mrs. Shelly Welch

I am super excited about starting my 24th year of teaching and 10th year here at Meriidian Ranch Elementary School! I am the Project Based Learning Teacher for Meridian Ranch. I am a Marine Corps brat who is married to an Airman. We both went to the University of Florida (Go Gators!) where I received both a BA and an M. Ed. in Education. I have 3 children, all who attended MRES at some point. My oldest graduated from Falcon High, my middle child is a senior at Falcon High and my youngest is an 8th grader at Falcon Middle.

PBL is an acronym for “Project Based Learning”, which, in a nutshell, is a program that focuses on the 21st century skills of communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.

My mission is to teach your child how to build a “bag of tricks” that will enable them to work productively in pairs, triads and other small groupings in order to obtain a common goal, all the while focusing on creative problem solving and effective communication strategies. Research says that these skills, specifically, top the list for what employers seek when recruiting talent.

If you have questions about what is happening in PBL, please don’t hesitate to email me mwelch@d49.org.

Here’s to a Fantastic Year!

Shelly Welch, M. Ed.
