My name is Lisa Bergen, and I am your new Gifted and Talented Teacher. To say I am excited to work at Inspiration View and join this amazing community of families is an understatement. This will be my first year at Inspiration View and my ninth year as a teacher. I started my teaching career as a fifth grade homeroom teacher and then as a 4th-6th grade history, science, and computer teacher in Indiana. I have worked with elementary and middle school students in various capacities throughout my time as a teacher. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in history from Maranatha Baptist University. Then, I went on to get my Master's degree in Elementary Education with a certificate in Middle School education in 2020 from Ball State University.

 

I moved to Colorado in July of 2021 from Indiana where I had lived the past six years. However, I am originally from New England where I grew up enjoying the beaches in summer and exquisite foliage in the fall. Despite having grown up around the beach, I have, surprisingly, fallen in love with the mountains and breathtaking views that are found while hiking Colorado's many trails. I recently climbed my first 14er, which was an exciting accomplishment for me.

 

In my spare time, I love to bake new recipes as I have a major sweet tooth. I also like cooking, but not as much as baking. Furthermore, I enjoy picnics, watching movies and crime TV shows (Chicago PD is one of my favorites), playing pickle ball, hiking, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, reading historical fiction, and playing board games (not Dutch Blitz). I can also be found hanging out in my hammock.
