Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Cortney McLaughlin

My name is Cortney McLaughlin and I am one of Sand Creek High School's Visual Art Teachers! I will be entering my seventh year of teaching and my second year at Sand Creek High School. Before teaching at Sand Creek, I was an Elementary Art Teacher.

I studied Art Education and Ceramics with a minor in Art History at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for Special Education. I moved from North Carolina to Colorado in the pursuit of nature! In the past, you could find me hanging out on different beaches on the
East Coast, and now I am exploring throughout the mountains and bagging as many 14ers as I can. I am from a small rural town east of Raleigh. I have a big
family that spreads out all over the world. Different cultures and people amaze me! My favorite artists are Vincent van Gogh and Michelangelo.

As your child’s art teacher, my goal is to teach your child different art making processes and tools while incorporating

other classroom curriculums, such as, math, science, ELA, and history. I would like to empower every student to be

creative, unique, and independently equipped with a skill set to help with their future endeavors.
