will be learning…

Math:  We learn a lot of new math concepts in fourth grade as well as practice some of the concepts students have already been introduced to.  Some of the main concepts we practice are: division, decimals, fractions, estimation, and geometry.

Reading: In 4th grade, students learn to  read a variety of both fiction and non-fiction materials.  We use a variety of engaging literature to teach major concepts to each student.  We do a variety of whole group and small group instruction to target each individual student’s needs.

Language/Writing:  Students become proficient writers in both expository and narrative formats.  Multiple paragraph writing is introduced.  The Sitton Spelling program is used to improve student’s spelling in their everyday writing.

Social Studies:  Students learn about our nation’s regions and spend a full semester on Colorado’s rich historical past.

Science: Students learn about physical and chemical changes as well as sound, rocks and minerals, and the solar system
.

Text Box: $ System
The 4th grade does a
$ system in the second semester!  It is a fun and exciting way to promote positive behavior.  At the end of the semester there will be an exciting auction where students can spend what they’ve “earned.”
