Site Council

Philosophy

The Site Council is a visionary group helping to shape the direction of Vista Ridge High School. Through collaboration with staff, students, and community, the Site Council will enhance a learning environment in which innovation and excellence in education can be achieved.

Purposeo:

The purpose of the Site Council is to serve as an advisory board. Colorado state law (22-7-106) and District 49 board policy (AE-R) establish basic guidelines for this committee. The Council will focus on school culture, climate, safety, facilities, and promote a respectful environment for students and staff. In addition, the Council will also review the school improvement plan, the budget, and student and school performance and achievement.

Membership

Members are selected in the spring for the following school year. New members are identified through the VRHS Site Council selection process. All members are expected to follow VRHS Site Council operating norms. The best interest of the Council occurs when representatives assume responsibility for and facilitate two-way communication with their constituent group.

While membership will be flexible, the optimum membership would include:

·         School Principal or principal’s designee(s)

·         Five staff members

·         One student representative from each grade level

·         PTSA representative

·         Athletics Booster Club representative

·         Activities Booster Club representative
