Career Academies
As a STEM - focus high school, we offer
several technology-based career academies. The academies
offer several courses related to a career theme.
Engineering
Academy
The engineering program is based on the
Project Lead the Way curriculum.
Project Lead the Way(PLTW) courses make math and
science relevant for students. By engaging in hands-on,
real-world projects, students understand how the skills
they are learning in the classroom can be applied in
everyday life. Students will have an opportunity to
explore the broad field of engineering to help them make
career decisions. The program is presented in a
project-oriented manner that encourages problem solving
skills in a team centered approach similar to what they
will be doing when they go to work in industry.
The
High School Program is a four year sequence of courses
which, when combined with traditional mathematics and
science courses in high school, introduces students to
the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering prior to
entering college. However, those not intending to pursue
further formal education will benefit greatly from the
knowledge and logical thought processes that result from
taking some or all of the courses provided in the
curriculum. View the
PLTW Engineering website for more information.

The newest academy to Falcon District,
Vista Ridge is proud to offer the first year of the
Biomedical Academy. We are the only high school in the
western United States to offer this newest program, also
from Project Lead the Way. The program will grow each
