Advisory Program
Every student at Vista Ridge will be
part of an advisory team that will meet weekly on
Thursday mornings. Advisors will remain with the same
grade-level advisory team throughout the student's high
school career. Our advisory program has three goals:
-
Goal 1: Every student and his/her
family will develop a strong relationship with their
advisor. Each Advisor will foster open communication
will develop between the advisor, student, and
parents.
-
Goal 2: Advisors will work with
their advisees to provide regular academic coaching
and actively monitor their progress. Students will
develop short and long term goals and re-visit them
regularly.
-
Goal 3: Advisees will contribute in
a positive way to a school’s climate and develop a
sense of Wolf SPIRIT (Service, Pride, Integrity,
Respect, Initiative, and Teamwork) throughout the
community.
Academic Progress
Monitoring
Every three weeks, advisors meet one-on-one with each of
their advisees to discuss grades and overall progress.
For any student who has a D or F in any class,
advisors contact a parent by phone or email to let them
know the student is struggling. In addition, these
students are assigned to Homework Zone for the next
three weeks to get extra help with those subjects they
are struggling in. Our hope is to help kids keep up on
their learning and not wait until the last week of the
semester to try and improve grades.
