Congratulations!  We are beginning our unit on Egypt.  You will be asked to complete a project.  There are several requirements to this project, you need to complete a Product, a Paper including a BIBLIOGRAPHY, and present your project, in a PowerPoint using your research, to the class on December 12th, 2005.  I will give you some in class time to discuss and research your project with your group members.

Where can you find research?

Library Books – if the Skyview library does not have books on your topic, ask your parents to take you to the public library they have books on everything.  I will have a wide variety of books from the library for you to look at.

Internet Articles – The internet is an awesome place to visit and get information on your subject.  Make sure it is factual, and accurate, as well as school appropriate.

Where can I go to find information?            www.google.com, www.yahooligins.com

Encyclopedia’s are good points of reference.  And other books in the classroom.

What does my product need to look like?

I would like a visual representation of what it is your studying.  All groups need to come up with a PowerPoint presentation to be presented to the class.  Along with the PowerPoint you might want to include extra materials.  An example might be:  creating a pyramid out of foam to present with your PowerPoint.  Make sure you get it approved before you begin.  IT MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE!  Have fun with it.

What does my paper need to include?

Your group paper needs to include the names of you and your partner.  The paper needs to have a title, a clear description of your product, and a written description of what each member did to complete the project.  On a separate sheet of paper each group member will be responsible for telling me if things ran smoothly…

What is a bibliography?

Everyone needs to make sure that you keep track of the sources you use to write you paper.  To do this your group will need to compile your sources and attach them at the end of your paper.  I will give you an outline of how to write your bibliographies.  The bibliography is work ¼ of your grade!  You need to make sure you have completed this before you turn in your written paper.  Keep track of your sources as you do your project, it will make finishing the bibliography easier!  You need to have at least 5 sources of information!

When will I present my project to the class??

Starting ________________________ and only last a couple weeks. All projects will be presented to your class period—all projects need to be presented before we can move into the next unit.  All group members need to be present to get FULL points.  Half credit will be assigned to the score for any group member not present.  The rubric for presentation will be posted on the white board for you to look at what is needed.

Remember I am here for you if you have questions!
