2010 Summer Health Career Institute  – Are you interested in a Health Career? The mission of the Summer Health Careers Institute is to encourage underrepresented high school students from all regions of the state to pursue a career in health care. By fostering high academic performance, identifying and utilizing available resources, mentoring and enhancing social skills through university-based programs and activities, the institute seeks to facilitate the transition from high school to college and increase the student’s potential for successful completion of health professions. During this six-day program students from all over the state will come together to explore various medical health professions as well as have the opportunity to tour health care facilities; discuss career options with professors and health practitioners; and shadow a health professional during the trip to the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus "job shadow day" in Aurora.

This program is funded by a grant from The Colorado Trust Foundation. The Colorado AHEC System provides room and board, meals and all activities at no expense to the students. Housing is at a local college campus dorm setting (Colorado Christian University) with 24-hour supervision by AHEC staff, counselors and volunteers.

Applicants must be 16 years of age as of June 1, 2010 to participate in the institute to apply. Applications require teacher/counselor recommendations – do not delay! Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2010.

Parents - Infinite Campus
Assignments that are not entered in the gradebook appear as “blanks.” This usually occurs when an assignment is due but the teacher has not graded it yet. Also note, teachers enter “future” semester assignments. These assignments will not be entered until or shortly after the due date. Please know that our teachers are committed to the quickest possible turnaround time on assignments. However, due to problems with the Infinite Campus system, you may have received notification that your student has not turned in an assignment and when you check, it appears as a blank or with a score of ZERO percent when in fact your child did turn in the assignment and it was graded and entered in IC by the teacher. This is a system error that we are trying to reconcile with our district IT department. If this has happened, please have your child check with the teacher. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this.
If you do not have access to the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus, (our student information system), please come by the counseling office between 6:45 am and 2:30 pm to verify your information. You will be issued access by Central Office in approximately seven business days.
