HORIZON MIDDLE SCHOOL SEEKS TO BECOME AN IB WORLD SCHOOL
Horizon Middle School and Sand Creek High School wish to be authorized as an IB World School and join the community of state, private, national and international schools from every region of the world. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that this school believes is important for our students. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme.

We are candidate schools, acting in partnership, and aspire to be IB World Schools, offering the Middle Years Programme. A school applying to offer the MYP must begin implementing the programme before the school is granted IB World School status. Implementation has begun in sixth and seventh grades with eighth and ninth grade coming on board next school year. A delegation appointed by the IB will schedule a visit to the schools and report on the progress and capacity to deliver this programme. Upon successful completion of Application B, the school will be authorized to offer the programme and will attain the status of IB World School.

Evans Elementary, our feeder elementary, and Meridian Ranch Elementary are in process of becoming authorized in the Primary Years Programme. Sand Creek High School is also working on authorization to implement the Diploma Programme. We have been granted support to continue the implementation process by Falcon School District 49’s School Board.

For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.
