Dear Parents/Guardians, Welcome to Evans Elementary. We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about your child’s educational program. This year Mrs. Deadwiley (formerly Mrs. Simmons) will be the teacher responsible for the kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. Mrs. Ford will be the teacher responsible for the 4th and 5th graders. There will also be two paraprofessionals that may be working with your child in addition to the teachers, Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Baldomero. We follow the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) each student has following the child’s staffing. We also follow Colorado standards and standardized reading, writing, and math programs with your child. Your child’s development will be reported to you quarterly as well as at annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Special Education progress reports will be included with each general education report card as well. If at anytime you have questions regarding your child or our role in your child’s education, please feel free to come to the school and talk with us or contact us via phone at the numbers below. The behavior management methods used in our classroom as well as in the child’s general education classroom is the Boys’ Town model that the entire school uses. Students follow the Responsive Classroom philosophy. Students are expected to become responsible for their behavior. They are given chances to change their behavior or choose the consequences. Please feel free to contact us via email or by phone and we will reply as soon as possible. Thank
