Career Academy Vision/Mission

Students succeed best when engaged in areas of their interests and abilities. Expanded learning opportunities should integrate academic and technical education. We must, in partnership with parents and the entire community, present students with a cohesive educational program leading to relevant career choices.

It is the mission of FalCAP to equip every student to: Investigate post-secondary career options; Create educational plans aligned with their abilities and interests; Develop skills through rigorous and relevant coursework; and Pursue their ambitions for a successful future.

Program Guidelines/Provisions

  1. Students who choose an academy that is not located at the high school they would normally attend will spend the entire day at the high school where the academy is housed and take all their classes at that high school. (Ex: a student who would normally attend Sand Creek and chooses the Information Technology Academy will now attend Falcon High School full time and receive their diploma from Falcon High School)
  2. Transportation will be provided for students who choose an academy outside of their home high school. Students must be able to furnish transportation to a staging area at least 40 minutes prior to the start of the first hour class and then will be transported to SCHS or FHS. They must also provide transportation from the staging area at the end of the school day.
  3. Students will participate in co-curricular and athletic activities at the high school they are attending.
  4. Students are to commit to the academy for a minimum of one school year. Once a student has enrolled in an academy and the student decides they do not want to be in the academy or, due to unforeseen circumstances, cannot be part of the academy, will return to their home school at the beginning of the next school year. Any student wishing to leave at semester must appeal to the Academy Director.
  5. Students must continue to make academic progress in order to stay in an academy program. Academy student grades and behavior will be monitored each grading period (more often if necessary). Students who fail to progress academically or engage in inappropriate behavior may be subject to the following provisions;
  6. Since the movement between high schools is a possibility, the district has received the following guidelines from CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association, sanctions all high school competitive events and determines student eligibility);
